This may be a symptom of weakness in the organization.<br /><br />NGOs need to be self self sustaining and free of all limitations to ensure that the work for the chosen cause is carried out with commitments and without extraneous pressures.<br /><br />The Volunteer movement in India has been somewhat invisible but very strong. Innumerable examples of selfless voluntary work by people of all ages can be sited.<br /><br />With over two decades of experience in the NGO Sector, I can state with confidence that the Voluntary movement has always produced better results than those with Governmental assistance/ aid.<br /><br />Since the topic of Karma Yog Seva Mela has come up in the Blog, I would like to mention that the visit of the Consul to the ANSWER stall and the small but meaningful interaction with the boys of our Home for the Needy children ( called - KUTUMBAM - meaning 'Family') has left an indelible impression on our minds about the empathy and understanding indicated by Ms. Katherine Dhanani, US Consul, to the social issues.
